Title:Ghana: 116 Child Laborers Rescued
url: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/28/world/africa/28forbriefs-116CHILDLABO_BRF.html?ref=childlabor

                                                            Summary

The significance of this article is to inform readers about what is going on in other places around the world. This article is particularly focused on Ghana. The official, Patience Quaye, said that officers had found parents in fishing communities who had sold children as young as 4 for as little as $100. This reminds me of the consequences of education, child labor and the conditions in the coal mines. The parents of the children working could not afford to take care of their kids so they send their children of to work in factories, farms etc. The article was talking about how police rescued 116 children who had been forced into labor in Ghana’s Volta Lake area. This is reflective of the time the government of the industrial revolution sent investigators to see how the children were being treated. I believe that the police officers who rescued the asked them and tried to find out how the children from Ghana were being treated while working. The police also rescued 284 kids during that time period. I think that the children should be put into foster care instead of just selling them off to strangers. The reason why I stated that is because the child will be in a safe and legal environment. The people affected by the situation is an positive effect because now they have the opportunity to have a good education because they are now going to be taken care of by the government. They are also going to want to go help other people that are I there predicament. This issue is very complicated because the parents can’t always be blamed because we don’t know why the parents would sell their own child for just $100 instead of just giving them up for adoption.

Title: Amanda Knox freed after appeal in Italian court
Source: New york times
Link: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/04/world/europe/amanda-knox-defends-herself-in-italian-court.html

                                                  Summary

This article is about a woman named Amanda she was accused of killing her roommate Meredith Kercher. Her and her ex boyfriend were accused and arrested in 2007. Today she was released from prison. This article is significant because i have a uncle in the same predicament. This article gave me hope that my uncle will also be released. After 4 years in prison and being accused of something she ''didnt do'' she was still able to be proven not guilty.I think that the experience of being in prison is going to make life hard for her because she probably went through a lot and seen a lot for no reason. The reason why i stated ''no reason'' is because she was proven not guilty. I think that this is going to give a lot of people in her situation or worse some  kind hope because it gave me hope. I think that she is going to take life more serious and think about her actions before she makes a decision because already knows the affect of he actions and she was also close to losing her life. The reason why I say ''losing her life'' is because she was going to spend half of her life in prison and by the time she was going to be released it would have been too late for her to put the missing pieces of her life together again. I think that other people would not be interesting as much as i am because they are not in the same predicament as I.They probably never experienced what the family was feeling when Amanda was arrested. John Locke would have been the thinker that I chose because he believed that everyone should have the same rights. I also would have chosen Mary Wollstonecraft because she believed that woman and men should have the same rights. The reason why i chose those 2 thinkers is because without there contributions Amanda would have been killed because she was accused of murder and also because she was a woman she would not have had the right to speak up for herself. These thinkers would have been supportive of this article because it was an example of justice that both individuals were fighting for.

Blog Entry # 3.10- Process Journal (E)

The steps that we have taken this far is actually putting the project together we are making a poster that is going to make people want to go to the country that we are studying or researching about. When we get to class we actually start working on how the poster is going to be done and what information or facts that we need to add so that the place can look even more beautiful and have a very yearling pull that's going to make you want to visit that place and the country that i have is Trinidad. The way that i can improve my work is by making it more creative adding more colors and pictures to my poster. I can stop talking so much in class and answer the question not driving around the question i believe that going to make my grade have a tremindous increase.

Blog Entry # 3.5-design brief (A)

I am going to design and make a research page about the country that I have. I am going to try my best to learn about the country that I have the culture, religion, beliefs and etc. I think that this poject is very helpful and has a benefit on us students because we are learning about a new place and that's going to built our knowledge on that particular place. The goal of this product is to learn about different places. All you need is to buy it so that i can send it to you and you would learn about any place you want just say the name and the printer would do all the hard work for you . The things that ypu should not do is to tell it to do inapproperate things that is going to cause it to jam and you will be sued.

Blog Entry # 3.4-Process Journal 1 (C)

The specific steps that you need to take to create your country skills is you need to study the country you are doing and do some research on it. I think that in order to actuall procced and make a great thing out of these countries and learn about them you need to make a commetment and have the couriasity of learning new things and focus so that there can be a benefit or a reason why you sre studing tht country.

Blog Entry # 3.3- Poster Research (A)

The poster that I liked the most was the Austrillia Travels because i love traveling and I would take any opportunity to go around the world and study and also learn about different cultures, religion and etc. The reason why I didn't choose the other posters was because it really didn't connect everthing together but to me the  traveling did because  you can connect everthing together and make it one little thing instead of extending it to a certain point that it doesn't even make sense. The purpose of tourism is to actually travel to that perticular place so for instance  say I want to learn about African culture and things of that nature the best place to get everthing you want to learn about that place is by traveling there and seeing for yourself. The practical information that the poster provide as the potential of tourist if that in order to go touring different places and discovering new things you have yo get on a plane and get to that place I am not trying to say that you can't get there by foot or public transportation other than a plane but it's just more often that tourist travek to places that they never been to and is not close range by them so they take a plane.

Blog Entry # 3.2 - Dream Destination (A)

The city or country that i would really like to visit would be Ivory Coast because that's where my mom and dad are originated from. I saw some pictures of that place and i feel in love with it. I think that it is a very beautiful place and i really can't wait to go my dad said that i might go this summer depending on my grades. The reason why i want to go to that place is also because I'm tired of people saying that Africa is dirty when it's really not and also i want to go to the beautiful beach. This picture is going to show you that this place is not dirty and it's very tropical and beautiful and I am ready and day and time to depend where my parents originated from and the blood that run throw my vines from that place.

you can't tell me that this is not beautiful.

Blog Entry # 3.1- Design Task (A)

I think that the task i have been asked to do is to choose a place out of the box with different numbers and we connect the numbers with state that we  have in our packets. Then our teacher Mr. Wang told us to write and entry about that place and learn a little bit more about it. I really think we are being told to do this so that we can learn about different places that we didn't know about and also learn about there different traditions and culture. The country that I have is Trinadad and Tobago I really don't know anything about that place but now  I'm going to learn more about it.
